I am M.A. Bell, owner of AlphaMare Web Services. And that’s my current horse, Chips, in the photo with me.
I have been working with and around horses for over 50 years, as a rider, owner and coach in both Hunter/Jumper and Dressage. I hunted with the Lake of Two Mountains Hunt, and also spent several years in the Southern States working with racing Thoroughbreds both on and off the track (I actually touched Secretariat!). I’ve ridden 5-gaited horses and done some Western reining.
As an experienced horsewoman who has worked with a wide variety of breeds and disciplines, I am well aware that horses, while a true passion, are also labour and time intensive. For this reason few, if any, of the people who work with and care for them will have the time to build or maintain a website.
About 23 years ago, I first discovered computers, and then the Internet. Since then, I’ve been as hooked on the Web as I am on horses. I created my first website in 1996!
I have a College certificate in Visual Arts, and a degree in Fine Arts from Queens University. Several years ago I went back to College to expand my knowledge of the technologies required to create top-quality websites, and graduated from John Abbott College with an A.E.C. in Web Technology.
I worked for a Web Design firm in Montreal for a while, and learned a lot there, but really wanted to find a way to combine my love of horses with my training in design and programming. So I struck out on my own and established AlphaMare.
